Tuguldurmunkh and Naranjargal Baptism #83
What's good fam?!
Hope yall are doing good!! I'd love to hear how life's going for yall! Much love :)
After 30 weeks or 7 months serving in Enkhtaivan it's finally time to say goodbye. I'm so grateful to members here who supported us in bringing people unto Christ, and helped me grow closer to him myself. It's crazy to think around 2/3 of my baptisms during the mission have been in Enkhtaivan alone.
This week Naranjargal and her older brother Tuguldurmukh were baptized. It was great!! However when we started the baptismal service, there were only 8 people in the chapel. We felt like a failure and were embarrassed as perhaps we hadn't spread the word well enough. For context the last baptismal service we had we got 50 people to support Munkhkhuslen. But by the grace of God Seminary graduation was at the church the same night. After they wrapped up, all the stakes seminary students walked in to support Tuguldurmunkh and Naranjargal. We were super grateful that Brother Nergui and his 2 children were able to feel the support and love from their fellow saints.
Last week we helped prepare and serve lunches to the homeless and disenfranchised with the Catholic Nuns. For me it was an especially uplifting experience. Although as missionaries we serve a lot, the majority of our work is sharing the gospel and helping people understand Christ. We probably spend 5x more time teaching about serving and loving the poor rather than doing it. It's one thing to talk about serving and "least among us", as opposed to actually getting your hands dirty to love them. I hope that for the remainder of my mission and my life, I might be able to strike a better balance between talking and actually doing.
Spiritual thought
This quote from PMG really struck me this week - "Although we are imperfect and may fall short again, there is more grace, love, and mercy in Jesus Christ than there is failure, flaw, or sin in us."
We know that as long as we keep trying the power and grace of Christ will lead us to victory. In the mists of the darkness of WWII, Winston Chirchill famously said "Never, ever ever ever ever give up." "As long as we have faith in our own cause and an unconquerable will to win, victory will not be denied us." The same applies for our battle against the adversary. With faith in Christ nothing is impossible... In fact Jesus said this about faith to a father in despair.
“If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”
Love, Elder Bateman
