The Good Heart #41

Hey Everyone, Short update... I'm now back with Elder Peterson from Sainshand. We are serving together
as Zone Leaders in central Ulaanbaatar Short story: We have a guy who we've been working with to help overcome his addictions. He came to church this sunday and I sat next to him. I told him, "hey let's sing the songs together". I kid you not, I had tears streaming down my face during each hymn. I could hear the singing voice of my passed grandmother In my ears as we sang. It's like we had angels around us. After sacrament I asked "what was your favorite part?" He replied "singing the songs with you". Anyway that made me just melt. Spiritual thought: Good Heart The story of the young rich ruler is one have learned from this week. In response to a righteous, young rich ruler who inquired of the way to get to heaven Jesus finally answered "If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me." To me, God loves to see us keep His commandments... but more he wants to see that our hearts become good. That we become like Him. To become full of love, empathy, and benevolence. It is the good heart (the mother of all good deeds), he cherishes. "God is love... If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us." 1 John 4:8,12 The good heart is what God wants us develop. I believe this because the most meaningful experiences in my life have been bourn out of love. Chirst taught less of do's and don'ts, but more of a condition of love and virtue - that is his law. Anyway that's what I wanted to share, love to hear from yall back home. Love, Elder Bateman
