Insane week #21

 Hey Everyone!

The past week has been the most bizarre and fun week of the entire mission. Our mission president came down to Sainshand to drop of a new senior couple. They don't know Mongolian and are charged with leading the church here now. They have the most difficult job I've ever seen a senior couple been given.

President Namgur met with the Governor of the East Gobi Province who said this "I saw 2 of your missionaries (Elder Bateman and Schefer) at the store. Im very impressed. We want them to stay in Mongolia. I will find them wives, free housing, and good work". I guess I'm set haha 😉

The next day, we organized a church activity to go out to the sand dunes. We had 25 people show up. As the group was departing from the church building, a drunk old man swore at some of the younger children. To which, one of the church members yelled back at him. Which spiraled into him punching the drunk man. I had to hold back our church friend from badly hurting the drunk. The ordeal lasted 30 minutes until the police showed up. Afterwhich we left for the sand dunes.

But the guy driving our car was supposed to go the police station. He was determined to get us there first. So we left (I didn't think it was a great idea). As we were 1 mile from our destination, the car gets stuck in the sand...

So here we are, stuck in the middle of nowhere for an hour. And the guy is supposed to be at the police station. In fact we got 2 phone calls, saying "the police are looking for (so and so), do you know where he is?". And we are like "yeah, we are with him". Not the best look.

In the end, everything worked out. We still made it the sand dunes, had an uplifting activity (2 ladies drove 100 miles from the boarder of China to join). We played vollyball, wrestled, ran around barefoot, saw wild camels. Hope you enjoy the pictures!!

Spiritual thought

Christ taught a higher and holier law. To love thy enemy, to turn the other cheek, and to love all despite how they treat us.

The natural man would have us contend and grow angry with one another. But by letting God prevail in our hearts we can be a force for good, a force of joy, love, and peace.

"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that." Martin Luthur King Jr.

Love,
Elder Bateman
