Stranded in Sandstorm #22

 Hey,

This week, Elder Schefer and I went with a member to the countryside. About 125km away. We went so far south we were closer to Beijing than the mission home.

We visited her nomadic family and helped them herd sheep (brought a loaf of choclate chip banana bread too). The sand was so bad, at times we couldn't see 20 feet in front of us.

We left the home at 4:30. Got lost due to visibility. No roads just sand, no working GPS, and got flat tire. Minutes later the cars' bottom got stuck on a rock. Elder Schefer and I got out, pushed the car until the tire made contact with the rock. All while, getting hit by what felt like 1000 sand particles each second. Theres a lot more, but I wont bore you. We got home at 9:00.

I'll never forget this day.

Spiritual thought: Forgivness

"'How often shall my brother sin against me and I forgive him? Till seven times?' (Jesus said unto him 'not seven times') 'but, until seventy times seven'" - Peter and Jesus

If sin is an illness than forgivness, love, and reconcilation is our medicine. Church is our hospital, and Christ is the physician of our soul. His teachings is our prescription for healing. At some point, every person will feel wronged by another. The wounds of being unjustly treated, will only be infected by feelings of resentment.

"Forgivness is the key that unlocks the door of resentment and the handcuffs of hatred. It is the power that breaks the chains bitterness and the shackles of selfishness" Corrie Ten Boom

"To err is human; to forgive divine" Alexander Pope

I testify Christ lives. He loves you. He has set us free.

Love,
Elder Bateman
